Premium Tower Overlooking Busch Stadium Tops Out

Developed by the St. Louis Cardinals and The Cordish Cos., the 29-story community will overlook the baseball team's home field.

The St. Louis Cardinals and The Cordish Cos. have topped out a 29-story luxury residential tower that will bring 297 apartment units to the mixed-use Ballpark Village development in downtown St. Louis. Half of the property, One Cardinal Way, has already been leased out ahead of its planned opening in summer 2020.

The project is located at the corner of Clark Avenue and South Broadway, adjacent to Busch Stadium, the home of Major League Baseball franchise the St. Louis Cardinals. One Cardinal Way forms part of a $260 million scheme to augment the Ballpark Village neighborhood with 700,000 square feet of new hotel, retail and lifestyle amenities.

The construction milestone comes after the joint venture opened the first property within the expansion project, an 11-story, Class A office tower anchored by PwC, less than a month ago.

Upon completion, One Cardinal Way will provide a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes and penthouses, along with more than 15,000 square feet of amenities for residents, including a spacious outdoor terrace with direct views into the stadium, infinity edge pool, fitness center, conference room and club room equipped with a bar and fireplace.

The amenity package will also include in-building parking, a 24-hour lobby attendant and personal concierge, and—in an unusual touch for an apartment building—a demonstration kitchen and resident wine steward. Barbecue restaurant Salt & Smoke will open its fifth location at the base of the property, joining other ground-floor amenities, according to a statement by the developers.

NEW NEIGHBORHOOD TAKES SHAPE
The Cardinals and The Cordish Co. teamed up on the 10-acre, master-planned Ballpark Village after the opening of Busch Stadium in 2006. The mixed-use project’s first phase, a $100 million dining and entertainment district, opened in 2014 and has since attracted tens of millions of customers.

Phase two, which broke ground in December 2017, will complete the full build-out of Clark Street, delivering an upscale hotel, a three-story retail pavilion, and other dining, entertainment, retail and lifestyle amenities, in addition to the newly opened, 120,000-square-foot office tower at the corner of Walnut and Eighth Streets.
